Format:
Numbers: We have the large old family dinner table at the house which can comfortably sit up to twelve people at a time. Dinners are in planning now, so if you are interested to join, keep an eye on the main page, where topical updates will be posted, or feel free to contact us.
Food & beverage: So that we can leave the event open to late-joiners, the dinners or other food events are all pot-luck. So everybody is expected to bring a little of something. Starters, finishers, salads, soups or mains are all welcome, as will be wine or other liquid offerings for the gathering.
Share a wonder: House of Wonder is a space for encouraging the sharing of ideas, skills, intrigues, perspectives, observations and fascinations. All guests are invited to bring along their own ‘wonders’, as they might relate to the topic of the evening. These can be communicated however you would like – a short korero/statement, a poem, an image or film, an object, or a short demonstration of some kind. It is also fine to just come along and listen.
Attire: Formal or tidy attire is requested. You are welcome to use the evening as an excuse to dress up. The hostess is likely to.
Overnight/weekend stays: All linen supplied, pillows, towels, etc. Bring some food and beverage supplies to add to any other meals you might be staying for. Bring swimming gear if you’d like to go for a dip! A windjacket, sunglasses and binoculars are recommended for a visit to the shorebird reserve.
Please see the information for specific events for more detailed schedules.
